Remedies available under the ADA and FEHA are designed to prevent future employer discrimination, and to make “whole” the individual or class subject to the discrimination. These remedies include compensatory and punitive damages for willful or intentional violations, reinstatement, back pay and reasonable attorneys’ fees and costs.

Generally, procedural rules applicable to claims for other types of discrimination apply to claims for disability discrimination. The ADA also encourages informal resolution of claims through mediation and arbitration.
