Employers Covered Under the Mandatory Paid Sick Leave Law

The California PSL mandate applies to all employers, regardless of size. It applies to public and private employers, and for-profit and not-for-profit companies.

Employer is defined as: “any person employing another under any appointment or contract of hire and includes the state, political subdivisions of the state, and municipalities.”1
