California’s Equal Pay Act prohibits employers from wage discrimination based on gender, race or ethnicity.

In addition, the state Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA), the federal Equal Pay Act1 (which is part of the federal Fair Labor Standards Act), the federal Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act of 2009 and Title VII also prohibit discriminatory compensation decisions.
