Can the 10-minute rest break be waived?

No, rest breaks cannot be waived. The Industrial Welfare Commission (IWC) orders mandate rest breaks and do not authorize a waiver similar to meal periods. Certain narrow exceptions exist for specific industries, such as IWC Order 16 (construction, drilling, logging, mining) and IWC Order 5 (some residential care employees).
